Germany’s DZG Metering GmbH is a century-old enterprise in electricity metering, with a history dating back to 1919. The company holds a significant share of the German market in charging pile metering and is one of the most influential electricity meter suppliers in Germany.

In recent years, DZG has worked closely with Reallin Electron to successively launch DC energy meters that comply with German and EU metering regulations. These products are widely used in fast‑charging stations across Germany and Europe, making them a leader in this specialized segment.
Currently, the European electric vehicle market is in a phase of rapid growth. The EU’s 2035 ban on new internal combustion engine vehicles is forcing industry upgrades, while Germany, France, and other countries are increasing purchase subsidies to boost EV demand. At present, Europe has only about 300,000 public charging piles, far short of the 3.5‑million target set for 2030 – a massive gap that makes ultra‑fast charging stations a key focus for development.

However, metering is at the core of ultra‑fast charging R&D. Many companies have experienced delays in product launch due to issues such as inadequate metering accuracy and failure to pass certification.
To address this, Reallin Electron teamed up with Germany’s DZG several years ago to develop an integrated‑shunt DC energy meter designed specifically for ultra‑fast charging. This meter can be customized to meet the power requirements of different ultra‑fast charging scenarios, with optimized parameters that further enhance product competitiveness.

The GSH series DC energy meter stands out with the following key features:
1. High‑precision metering
Accuracy class: C (EN 50470‑4) / 0.5 (IEC 62053‑41)
Supports unidirectional (A+) or bidirectional (A+/A‑) energy measurement
Maximum current: 200A / 650A / 800A / 1500A; Maximum voltage: 1000V / 1500V
2. Line loss compensation
Supports impedance‑based line loss calculation and compensation
Impedance range: 0.0001 Ω ≤ R_line ≤ 0.1 Ω
Compensation values are configurable and recorded in the certified log (Eichlog)
3. Data security and signing
Uses ECDSA asymmetric encryption (supports secp256r1 / secp384r1 curves)
All charging data are output in OCMF format with a digital signature
Supports transparency software to verify data authenticity
4. Multiple communication interfaces
3 RS485 interfaces (RJ12 connectors)
Supports SLIP communication protocol, with configurable baud rate up to 921600
Can connect to external displays, charging controllers, and other devices
5. Display and operation
Dot‑matrix LCD display with backlight
Up/down buttons to switch display content, including energy, power, voltage, current, etc.
Supports public key display (Base32, QR code, DataMatrix formats)
6. Charging process management
Supports charging start/stop commands
Records start value, end value, and difference for each charging session
Persistent storage of charging data, supports historical record query

With over 20 years of deep expertise in smart meter manufacturing and production bases in Europe and other regions, Reallin Electron leverages the precision, compliance, and reliability of the GSH series DC smart energy meters developed with DZG to help numerous companies successfully overcome the challenges of ultra‑fast charging metering and establish a strong presence in the European ultra‑fast charging market.
